The meeting began with an emotional tribute to Maricarmen and to all the people who have suffered evictions, the loss of their homes, or situations of vulnerability. The attendees lit candles and placed signs as a symbol of memory, dignity, and collective resistance under the slogan "Not one more Maricarmen".

During the Assembly, it was recalled that the housing emergency affects more and more families in Lanzarote. The rising cost of rents, the lack of affordable housing, and the pressure of the current tourist and residential model are transforming neighborhoods and making it difficult for the population to continue living on the island.

Faced with this situation, the Assembly agreed to support and accompany families threatened by evictions, especially when minors or vulnerable individuals are involved. It also called on the competent administrations for an urgent and coordinated response that guarantees dignified housing alternatives.

"No one should face the loss of their home alone," argued the participants, who opted to strengthen social and legal advice, citizen support, and collaboration with groups working for the right to housing.

The Assembly also agreed to maintain active and peaceful protest in José Ramírez Cerdá Park as a space for meeting, information, mutual support, and advocacy.

All actions will continue to be carried out responsibly and civically, prioritizing the care and safety of the participants.

Likewise, the Assembly calls on those who can accompany the protest space, which has grown exponentially, to come forward and contribute with their presence to defend the legitimate exercise of the rights of assembly, expression, and peaceful protest. In the Assembly's opinion, certain actions and warnings from a sector of the City Council could constitute an unjustified limitation of these fundamental rights.

Since the beginning of the protest, the Assembly has kept the different competent authorities informed, acting with transparency, responsibility, and a willingness to comply with established legal channels.

For this reason, the Assembly requests that any action by the administrations scrupulously respect the constitutional framework. Furthermore, a working committee was created to advance the organization of the future general strike. This group will seek to involve the neighborhoods, families, educational centers, and the various social and labor sectors of Lanzarote, incorporating demands related to housing, the defense of the territory, and the consequences of the current economic and tourism model.

The José Ramírez Cerdá Park will be marked in collective memory as the place where citizens organized from Lanzarote to defend and claim the right to housing, addressing the specific social, territorial, and housing particularities of the island.

The Citizen Assembly for the Right to Housing in Lanzarote invites the entire population to inform themselves, collaborate, and participate in upcoming meetings and actions. Its objective is clear: to build a collective response so that living with dignity in Lanzarote is a right and not a privilege.
