Maritime Rescue saves 55 migrants in waters near Lanzarote

There were 42 men, 11 women, and two children on board the vessel, all of Maghrebi origin. There may be two people missing who fell into the sea.

Maritime Rescue has rescued a boat in waters near Lanzarote in the early hours of this Thursday, October 16. A merchant ship spotted the boat at approximately 10:30 p.m. and reported that some people had fallen into the water, with the ship picking up one of them.

The Maritime Rescue helicopter is searching for the other people.

There were 55 people on board the inflatable boat: 42 men, 11 women, and two children, all of Maghrebi origin, according to the Emergency Consortium.
