Mario Hernández Barrios, municipal worker of Tías and former wrestler of Unión Sur Tías, dies

Mario dedicated more than 17 years to public service, leaving a profound mark on local sports

The Tías City Council has expressed its "deepest regret" for the death, this Thursday, August 14, of Mario Hernández Barrios, a municipal worker and renowned local athlete, who lost his life in La Graciosa.

Born on September 12, 1969, Mario was part of the municipal staff since February 25, 2008, performing his work in the Department of Sports for more than 17 years, always with dedication and commitment to the service of the citizens.

His connection with sports in Tías went beyond the workplace. He was a fighter for the Unión Sur Tías Wrestling Club, where, according to his colleagues, he left his mark "as an athlete and as a friend." The club has also expressed its regret for the loss of "who in recent years was in charge of ensuring that our sports facilities were always in the best condition."

"We will always remember you with that smile with which you greeted us upon arriving at the arena, where a joke was never missing," they said from Unión Sur Tías in an emotional message.

The municipal corporation, on behalf of all its members and workers, has conveyed its sincerest condolences to family, friends, and relatives of Mario in these moments of profound pain.
