The social and cultural association for women Mararía has organized the 'Activists, Volunteering and Associative Movement' conference, a meeting that aims to “promote social action, with a focus on the international scene, prostituted women and the new challenges in Human Rights.”

As detailed by Mararía, the headquarters set up in the Hotel Lancelot in Arrecife will host the presentations "Racism and Intimacy: Black Women in the Colonial Imaginary" between October 27 and 28, by the Cuban anthropologist specialized in issues of racism and racial discrimination against women, Aída Esther Bueno Sarduaey; 'Violations of Human Rights in immigrant women', taught by the lawyer and feminist activist Nuria González López and 'The abolition of prostitution on the political agenda of the feminist movement', whose speaker, Graciela Beatriz Atencio, is a lawyer and journalist, and has participated in the investigation of the feminicides of Ciudad Juárez.

Olga Barrera, from the Federation of Women's Associations Arena y Laurisilva, will also speak; Lucy Polo, from the Asociación por Ti Mujer de Valencia; Carmen Delia Reyes, from the Mararía Lanzarote Association itself; Ada Santana, representing the Federation of Young Women of Gran Canaria; and Patricia Ponce, from the Haurralde Fundazioe, NGO for women's rights in Euskadi.

The last places for face-to-face attendance and online access are still open, by prior registration. With the contributions and reflections of the participants, Mararía announces that “a final document will be published, which will serve as a reference for the issues discussed and will be disseminated through the press and social networks.”

The 'Activists, Volunteering and Associative Movement' conference has been subsidized by the Canary Islands Institute for Equality and has the collaboration of Haurralde Fundazioa and Hotel Lancelot.
