The social and cultural association for women, Mararía, has publicly expressed its regret for the death of one of its most veteran members and member of its board of directors for years, Caridad Romero del Mas.
The businesswoman, originally from Zaragoza and based in Lanzarote at the beginning of the 70s, made the island her home and dedicated a good part of her efforts to the collective progress of her community. She founded and chaired the College of Social Graduates of Lanzarote and participated in many of the collective negotiations that marked the end of the last century, with an always sensitive and conciliatory spirit.
The Mararía association recognized her with a commemorative plaque for her relevance as a businesswoman and first social graduate of the island in March 2001 and for the generosity of her collaboration and commitment to the most vulnerable women. She also participated on several occasions in meetings and conferences on female self-employment and social benefits.
