Before a crowded stand, this Friday the XXVIII Contest of Murgas of the Carnival of Arrecife was held in which Los Simplones won the First Prize for interpretation, lyrics and music, Los Desahuciados with the second prize and in third place Los Tabletuos. A final in which six murgas competed, Las Intoxicadas, Los Simplones, Los Titi Roys, Las Vacilonas, Los Tabletuos and Los Desahuciados. The jury did not have it easy since the level of the six carnival groups was very high.
In addition, during the night Francisco Navarro recalled the delivery of other awards that have been established in recent editions and that are delivered by Los Gorfines and Los Simplones in their respective headquarters. On this occasion the "Carlos Pérez 2016" Award, in homage to who was one of the most beloved members of Los Simplones, went to the Murga las Pijoletas with the song "Men, women and vice versa" and the "Ambrosio Cabrera 2016" Award also in memory of one of the members of Los Gorfines went to the Murga las Vacilonas "With irony and humor I inaugurate my office".
In the gala there was not only criticism, there was also a special moment, very emotional, especially for Francisco José, a Radio Lanzarote announcer, who has been presenting the event for twenty-eight editions and for this reason the murga Las Vacilonas made a loving tribute showing a large banner with his photograph and a legend that read "Francisco José, "27 years being one more murguero".
