Lanzarote has added 52 new positive cases of Covid-19 in the last day, bringing the number of active cases on the island to 805. However, in the last three days there has been a downward trend, after having registered more than 120 cases per day last Wednesday and Thursday.
This has slightly lowered the accumulated incidence, although this decrease will be more noticeable as the week progresses if this trend continues. For the moment, the accumulated incidence in Lanzarote this Monday is 385 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days and 574 in fourteen days, which is almost four and three times more, respectively, than the average for the Canary Islands. In the last week, the second highest incidence has occurred in Gran Canaria, with 102 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. Along with Lanzarote, this is the only island that is at level 3 of health alert.
In total, 2,540 cases have been diagnosed in Lanzarote since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 1,726 have been discharged and 11 have died. The last two deaths have been recorded during this weekend, after almost four months without deaths on the island.
In addition, on Monday morning there were already 32 people admitted to the Molina Orosa Hospital, nine of them in the ICU in serious condition.
