The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has established a yellow alert for high temperatures for Lanzarote and La Graciosa for this Wednesday. As a result of this prediction, the Directorate General of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has established the pre-alert for high temperatures in Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote.
This alert will extend during the central hours of the day between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM this September 23. It is expected that the island could reach 34 degrees and that locally it could reach up to 37 degrees in the south of the island. Along with Lanzarote and La Graciosa, the islands of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria will also be on yellow alert.
The probability of this episode occurring is between 40% and 70%. Furthermore, meteorological models warn of the arrival of an episode of high temperatures associated with the entry of a mass of warm air of African origin.
The growth of the maximums will also be accompanied by an increase in minimum temperatures, which would be around 24 to 26 degrees. On Thursday, temperatures will remain high, with light haze.
