Behind the banner that read "Not with our silence", a committee of women carrying bloodied bundles paraded on Saturday through the center of Arrecife, from the esplanade of the Castillo de San Gabriel to the Casa Amarilla, to demand a just peace for Palestine and an end to the bombings of Gaza and the West Bank.

In one of the largest demonstrations remembered since the group began its awareness actions, more than a year ago, different spokespersons from Lanzarote for Palestine drew attention to the genocide that is being perpetrated and broadcast daily on television, without the international community taking action.

Between flags and slogans, the attendees were called to action, to raise their voices, to show their indignation in every possible way and to boycott exports from Israel. "Let's make supermarkets that sell their products aware that we will not buy potatoes stained with the blood of the Palestinian people," they declared. They also invited people to hang Palestinian flags from windows and balconies as a sign of solidarity and tribute to the victims of the conflict.

The platform has expressly expressed its gratitude to the local media that have given voice and space to this call and that contribute to ensuring that those who share the pain for this bloody war, the defense of human rights and the demand for justice, know that they are not alone.

The Lanzarote for Palestine collective announces that it will continue to take to the streets to remind the government of Spain, and all the governments that "stand idly by this massacre, that the island will not be complicit through inaction or silence and that it is on the right side of history".
