Lanzarote and La Graciosa, without water and with breakdowns: more than thirty towns with cuts this Thursday

The lack of supply, which affects five of the island's seven municipalities, is due to breakdowns registered at the Lanzarote V plant, the work of Canal Gestión, and at the portable desalination plants dependent on the Water Consortium.

Lanzarote and La Graciosa woke up this Thursday with 31 towns without water and breakdowns in 22 of them, according to the company responsible for water management on the island, Canal Gestión.

The company stated on its website that "additional water supply cuts and interruptions are occurring in various towns on the island which, due to the current system circumstances, cannot be incorporated or communicated with sufficient advance notice in the supply calendars published on this website."

As they explain, the lack of supply is due to the breakdowns registered at the Lanzarote V plant, a Canal Gestión project, and at the portable desalination plants dependent on the Water Consortium, "which is causing a significant reduction in the daily production of drinking water and a situation of particular instability in the regulation levels of the reservoirs."

Therefore, in addition to the planned and scheduled cuts, they point out that "it is necessary to carry out additional maneuvers and cuts in real time, depending on the continuous evolution of the system." As a result of this situation, "certain towns may be affected by interruptions not previously reflected in the published calendars, although efforts will be made to keep them updated."

These deficiencies in the water system have caused 31 towns to be without running water. In the municipality of Haría, the town center, Máguez, Ye, Órzola, Arrieta, Punta Mujeres, Mala, and Charco del Palo are suffering cuts today.

In the municipality of Teguise, the town center, Las Nieves, Guatiza, Nazaret, Tahíche, Teseguite, Mozaga, Muñique, Tiagua, Soo, and Caleta de Famara also have no supply, as does the town of Pedro Barba in La Graciosa.

For their part, in Tinajo, El Cuchillo, La Costa, Tajaste, La Vegueta, Mancha Blanca, and Tinguatón are also without supply. In the southern part of the island, Tías and Mácher do not have water, nor do Uga, Yaiza, and La Degollada.
