Aena has begun this week to install the signs with the new name of César Manrique at the Lanzarote airport.
According to Aena, a sign has been placed at the entrance of T-1 and another in the T-2 runway area, with more signage pending installation. These works, they said, could be completed next week.
It was last December when the Council of Ministers agreed that the Lanzarote airport would be renamed César Manrique in homage to the artist, whose centenary of his birth is commemorated this year.
The change of name had already been approved by the Lanzarote institutions, but Aena refused to pay the cost, demanding that the requesting institutions do so. However, after the commitment of Pedro Sánchez, the Council of Ministers finally decided to assume this initiative and pay the expenses.
