Hundreds of people participate in the 13th Race Against Gender Violence in Arrecife

The objective has been to make visible and reinforce the collective commitment against the violence suffered by women and minors who are victims of gender-based violence

Hundreds of people participated this Saturday in the 13th Race Against Gender Violence 2025, an initiative that is part of the commemorative events for November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

This event has been organized once again by the Equality Department of the Arrecife City Council together with the Specialized Service for Equality, Gender Violence, and Diversity (SIAM) of the Social Welfare Department of the Lanzarote Island Council, with the aim of making visible and reinforcing the collective commitment against the violence suffered by women and minors who are victims of gender violence.

The sporting event had an urban route of approximately 2.9 kilometers, with the start and finish at Parque Ramírez Cerdá. At 12:00 PM, a joint warm-up was held, and the official start was at 12:30 PM.

"With this race, we want to continue remembering that the fight against sexist violence needs all of us. Every step we take together counts towards building a freer, fairer, and more egalitarian society," said Maite Corujo.The capital's Equality Officer recalls that "this race is not just a sporting event, but a demonstration of unity and social commitment.
