Lanzarote and La Graciosa is experiencing an episode of calima and heat that is leaving abnormally high temperatures at this time of year and an air quality "extremely unfavorable". As you will recall, both islands is under yellow alert for suspended dust since this Sunday.
On this Sunday, the values reached 30 degrees in areas like Caleta del Sebo, in La Graciosa, according to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). In other places temperatures were also warm, such as the 29 recorded in Tinajo.
In other localities the values were milder, such as the 26 degrees of Tías and Haría.
Furthermore, the calima that is affecting the islands has been leaving since this Saturday a poor air quality in some points such as Arrecife, Costa Teguise and Las Caletas, according to data from the Government of the Canary Islands.
Specifically, microparticles with a diameter smaller than ten micrometers that affect air quality are "extremely favorable" in these three areas and "unfavorable" with regard to microparticles smaller than 2.5 micrometers.
This implies a serious situation for those people who suffer from previous pathologies and being able to affect more those with respiratory problems, such as asthma or allergy.
For this Tuesday clear skies with haze are expected and temperatures with few changes or in slight decrease, with lows of 15 degrees and highs of 23. The wind will blow from the east component between light and moderate, which during the early morning and first hours of the day will have intervals of strong in inland areas and western coasts. In the last hours of the day it turns to northwest.
