The inaugural act of the XVI National Rescue Meeting in Traffic Accidents (ENRAT) brought together last Wednesday firefighters from different parts of Spain, as well as from other countries, in the assembly hall of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
Up to 16 members of emergency teams from other places in Spain such as Valencia, Catalonia, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Madrid, Toledo, Valladolid, Córdoba and Bizkaia attended the event, in addition to several international members from the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The inauguration of the event came from Marcos Bergaz, vice president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Pedro Ruiz, president of APRAT, and Kevin Lennon, director of operations of the World Rescue Organization.
For his part, the president of the Consortium, Marcos Bergaz, thanked the participating teams for "their presence on the island, a sign of their constant process of improvement in the rescue of accident victims, a disaster in which we can all be affected" and "invited the population to participate in the meeting that takes place until this Friday at the Arrecife fairgrounds".
After the inaugural act, part of the attendees were able to witness a simulation of a vehicle rollover in the roundabout of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, carried out by the Lanzarote fire department.
During the staging, the island's emergency team put into practice all the necessary techniques and maneuvers to demonstrate the maximum efficiency with which one must work in this type of emergency. All this with the main objective of minimizing the damage in the number of victims in traffic accidents.
