The Cabildo of Lanzarote expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Juan Corchero, an agricultural expert and technical engineer of agricultural holdings, whose professional career was linked for decades to the development of the primary sector in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

Originally from Extremadura, Juan Corchero made Lanzarote his home and the center of his professional life, developing continuous technical work in service of the island's farmers and ranchers. He held positions at the Agricultural Extension Agency, from where he provided direct advice to the primary sector, participated in the modernization processes of farms, and contributed to the consolidation of technical structures that marked a significant stage in the island's agricultural evolution.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has stated that “Juan Corchero represents a way of understanding public service through technical knowledge, constant work, and closeness to the territory. His contribution is part of the recent history of Lanzarote's agricultural sector and of many towns that grew with that professional support”.

In recognition of his career, Juan Corchero was honored in 1975 with the Royal Medal of Agricultural Merit, awarded by His Majesty King Juan Carlos I, a tribute to a life dedicated to agricultural work and rural development
