On Saturday, the town of Famara became a meeting point for children and young people who enjoyed a social and sports day, in which the Caleta skate park was inaugurated, a plan to revitalize playgrounds and a beach cleanup under the slogan "All united against plastic" was carried out.

Volunteers summoned by "Famara Limpia" and the Environment area of the Teguise City Council led by Cristi Rodríguez, collected more than 2,000 kilos of garbage in the areas of Famara and El Perejil beach last Saturday. This action brings together "more and more volunteers of all ages", to whom "we must thank that the beaches of Famara smile again", explain the organizers. The next call for cleaning, under the slogan "All united against the invasion of plastic", will take place on Saturday, May 3.

Last Saturday, hundreds of young people also enjoyed the opening of the Caleta de Famara skate park, which has a two-meter high miniramp, the largest on the island. In its premiere, it was attended by skaters of great recognition from the Canary Islands, Bilbao and Barcelona, who offered a great show of figures and pirouettes in the air.

Councilors Daniel Morales and Echedey Eugenio were in charge of inaugurating this new space aimed at skateboarding lovers, a sport that has many followers on the island, which "symbolizes street culture and is closely related to urban art".

"The objective of the City Council with the opening of this outdoor skate park is to offer skateboard fans their own space that they can freely use to develop their activity, meeting all the necessary conditions of soil, unevenness, and security, and without disturbing the rest of the population, since it is a space created exclusively for them," said Councilor Daniel Morales during the presentation. The event concluded with a live concert by the band Emisora Calendestina and with a performance by DJ SekemaRoma.

Workshops and games for the little ones

In this day, the little ones also had a place, who enjoyed crafts workshops, children's makeup and various games. The next outdoor children's party will arrive on Friday in El Mojón, and on Saturday in Los Valles.
