The NGO Emerlan has taken stock of its actions throughout the year 2021, also marked by the coronavirus pandemic. Specifically, they carried out a total of 4,296 emergency services between Lanzarote, La Graciosa and Fuerteventura during the past year.

Within these emergency services, the NGO has detailed that 110 have been through the aquatic unit, while a total of 46 were with the Emerlan canine unit.

It has also summarized its actions within the social department, marked by the delivery of food to the neediest families on the island. Specifically, the NGO distributed a total of 196,646 kilos during the twelve months of the year, which translates into 30,000 food services in 2021.

During 2021, it also carried out a series of projects in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, highlighting among them the food bank with which they provided food to families on both islands. In addition, Emerlan also points out the realization of the "Emerlan Together with You" project, in collaboration with the Caixabank Social Work, with which they promoted the delivery of these foods to the families of Lanzarote and Graciosa.

Emerlan received different subsidies for various programs

The NGO also had some island council subsidies during 2021 to be able to undertake some services, such as the adapted transport of citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Specifically, according to Emerlan, they transferred a total of 2,083 people during the past year.

The "Emerlan Social Home" was also another of the NGO's projects subsidized by the Cabildo of Lanzarote. In this case, the project is dedicated to providing medium-long stay accommodation services for adults who cannot satisfy basic needs such as housing.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote also subsidized Emerlan for health coverage in sports activities of the Island Sports Service, through professionals with health training.

Within the Cabildo's own sports service, the NGO also provided the lifeguard service in the facilities of the Insular Center for Nautical Sports, with a professional who performs the work between 10:00 and 18:00.

Projects with the Arrecife City Council

Emerlan has also undertaken, together with the Arrecife City Council, various projects for the well-being of the citizens of Lanzarote. One of them, called "Aging at Home", arose from the finding that the population of over 65 years of age are alone in their homes. This project is based on the social and socio-health care of this sector of the population, so that they have their basic needs covered.

Another of the joint programs with the Arrecife City Council has been the "Assistance for food care and assistance for social support deficit". In this case, members of the NGO distributed a catering service and hot food delivery to the citizens of Arrecife seven days a week, since solidarity "does not take breaks."
