On the night of this Holy Saturday, at 9:00 p.m., the parish community gathered in the temple of San Ginés Obispo, in Arrecife, to celebrate the most solemn and significant of all the celebrations of the Paschal Triduum: the Easter Vigil. With the three naves completely full, silence was present as the faithful, with recollection and hope, began to gather around the new fire.

In the midst of darkness, a small flame tore through the shadows, announcing that the light of Easter was about to be reborn. From the temple atrium, the celebrant priest, Don Juan Carlos Medina, proceeded to light the Paschal Candle, symbol of the resurrected Christ. Thus began the procession through the central aisle towards the High Altar, while the faithful, one by one, lit their candles, allowing the light to spread in a gesture full of deep spirituality.

The celebration continued with the Liturgy of the Word, in which the readings from the Old Testament were proclaimed, tracing the history of salvation, until culminating with the proclamation of the Holy Gospel and the preaching of the homily.

One of the most anticipated and awe-inspiring moments arrived with the singing of the Gloria. At that instant, the temple, until then plunged in darkness, was flooded with light, the bells rang out with jubilation and the chants resonated with force proclaiming with irrepressible joy that Christ has risen.

The liturgy continued with the blessing of the water, another of the central signs of this holy night. The faithful, holding their lit candles, renewed their baptismal promises, while the priest walked through the temple sprinkling the assembly with holy water, in a gesture of renewal and new life.

The culminating moment of the Vigil arrived with the celebration of the Eucharist, in which the bread and wine were consecrated and subsequently distributed among the faithful in communion, center and source of Christian life.

The celebration concluded with the final blessing, but the joy did not extinguish with it. The songs of this night resonated with special intensity, driven by the Parish Choir, directed by professor Héctor Araya Alarcón, whose dedication and enthusiasm managed to infect the entire assembly, which actively participated in each of the songs.

At the end of the celebration, the parish priest, Don Juan Carlos Medina, stood at the central door of the temple to bid farewell to the faithful. There, amidst hugs and smiles, the community unitedly celebrated the Resurrection of the Lord, prolonging in simple gestures the profound joy experienced throughout the entire Vigil.

So on a night charged with symbols, light and hope, the parish community lived with intensity the central mystery of the Christian faith, leaving in each heart the certainty that life has conquered death.

May this Easter Sunday be full of light, hope, and joy for all your community.
