Operations at the César Manrique-Lanzarote airport were interrupted this Tuesday for approximately half an hour after the presence of a dog was reported in the vicinity of the runway.

As reported on X (formerly Twitter) by theair traffic controllers account (@controladores), for security reasons both takeoffs and landings were suspended while the animal remained in the area, which caused delays in the scheduling of several flights.

Specifically, five arriving aircraft had to remain on hold before being able to land, while some departing flights suffered delays reaching 30 minutes.

The animal was finally captured, allowing operations to resume with complete normality. “Safety first”, the controllers emphasized when closing the incident, recalling that any foreign element in the vicinity of a runway poses a potential risk to passengers and crews.
