Josué, known as El conejero, was shot dead on Thursday afternoon in broad daylight in the municipality of Telde in Gran Canaria, in the middle of the public road.
The investigation, which is in the hands of the National Police and in which the Local Police and the Civil Guard collaborate, is looking for the perpetrator of this homicide, who fled on a moped, after firing up to five shots at the thorax of this 38-year-old man.
According to La Voz, this young man has close family ties on the island of Lanzarote. One of his parents was born in Gran Canaria, but has been living and working on the island of volcanoes for nearly two decades.
The events took place on Pío XII street in this municipality. As a result, the National Police has activated the protocol for violent crimes and continues with the investigation to identify the perpetrator of the shooting.
As reported by La Provincia, the agents tried unsuccessfully to save the victim's life. After failing to do so, they cordoned off the area so that the scene would not be contaminated. In addition, the National Police activated the Violent Crimes Unit, Homicides, the Judicial Police and the Scientific Police.
For the moment, no hypothesis is ruled out, although that same media outlet states that this homicide could be due to a settling of accounts and that the leader of the Jinámar clan, dedicated to drug trafficking, ordered his assassination. However, relatives of the victim have assured TeldeActualidad that the murder had no links with "gangs or criminal activities" and have attributed it to "a personal revenge."
In addition, he assured that El Conejero would have assumed the role of his uncle, José, alias El negro, since May, when he entered prison, fulfilling the role as lieutenant.
