The PSOE of Lanzarote says goodbye with enormous sadness to Concha Arrocha, a historic socialist militant and one of the most beloved people in the organization, whose loss leaves a deep void in the entire socialist family of the island.
Concha was part of the daily life of the party for decades. Her presence in the Casa del Pueblo, her closeness, her permanent willingness to help, and the affection with which she received those who approached the headquarters made her much more than a militant. She was company, care, and affection for generations of comrades.
The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has expressed on behalf of the entire socialist family the deep pain for her passing and has conveyed all her affection to her family and loved ones.
“Today the heart of our Casa del Pueblo is extinguished. To speak of Concha is to speak of the living history of our party. She did not just militate; she was militancy in its purest and most generous form. For all of us who crossed the door of our headquarters, Concha was the first smile, the hot coffee, the friendly hand that welcomed us and made us feel at home from the first moment,” says Corujo.
Concha was also a woman of enormous strength. A fighter who faced life with courage and who made caring for others a way of being in the world. That same dedication she showed with her family she transferred for years to the Socialist Party, always with simplicity, generosity, and a deep sense of belonging.
“She was a woman who dedicated her life to caring for this project and, above all, for the people who are part of it. Her joy, her constant light, and her selfless love for the Socialist Party and for her comrades leave an immense void, but also an indelible mark,” affirms the general secretary.
In November 2025, the Local Group of the PSOE of San Bartolomé recognized her career during the presentation of the Alexis Tejera Awards, created to honor the memory of the former mayor of the municipality. Concha Arrocha then received the distinction of Historic Socialist, a recognition of a lifetime of dedication and commitment to socialist values in Lanzarote.
For Corujo, that tribute allowed her to recognize in life what Concha meant for Lanzarote socialism and for so many people who shared the path with her.
“She leaves us an example of commitment, simplicity, and kindness that will always accompany us. Thank you, Concha, for opening the door to us, for taking such good care of us, and for teaching us with your life what it means to be a socialist.”
The general secretary concludes her farewell with words that summarize the feeling that runs through the PSOE of Lanzarote today: “We will miss you so much every day, in every corner of our House of the People. Rest in peace, dear comrade.”
The PSOE of Lanzarote sends all its love and embrace to the family and loved ones of Concha Arrocha and shares with them the pain of a loss that is deeply felt throughout the organization.
