Colorful, masquerades and music flooded the San Bartolomé Carnival arena

Residents and visitors who are spending their holidays on the island enjoyed the carnival parade of San Bartolomé on Tuesday afternoon. On an afternoon when the cold made its presence felt, the parade began at 6:00 p.m., with numerous spectators along the entire route.

A total of 10 carnival groups participated in the parade. The Afilarmónica Las Revoltosas, Guacimetitos, Los Retoñitos and batucada Guaychara paraded in representation of the municipality. Groups from other municipalities also joined the parade, such as Las Rebuscadas and the Charanga Los Gruñones, as well as the Sur Caliente, Cumbacheros and Yaiseros comparsas.

All these groups enlivened the parade as they passed through the streets of the town, accompanied by masquerades and carnival groups, such as the pirates who landed in the parade, all of them participants in the Municipal Service Buchito de café, as well as numerous groups of friends and families from the municipality and the first two group prizes of the chinijo carnival, "Los calendarios de Güime Kids" and "El Cazador y sus Trofeos".

The parade featured 7 floats, including the first three prizes from the Arrecife competition, "Cyborg, the age of extinction", "Made in China" and "Power Ranger", who shared the parade with Mimetización, who came from Tinajo, Los Bros from Haría, Mi gran amigo Joe and la Mosca. All of them had been perfectly characterized to show off throughout the route, enlivening the public with music and all those who joined the route, dressed up or refajados and dancing animatedly.

The atmosphere did not wane at any time along the route. Carnival groups together with numerous masquerades and floats toured, to the rhythm of batucadas, charanga and dances, Avenida Alcalde Antonio Cabrera Barrera and Rubicón and Dolores Ferrer streets to conclude with the performances of murgas and comparsas in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente park.

The Mayoress, and members of the City Council enjoyed together with residents and visitors this carnival tradition that fills the streets with color and rhythm. María Dolores Corujo, thanked "the high participation of residents and the enormous quality of the costumes, and the Department of Festivities, the work and dedication required to organize all these events."
