Canary Islands declares pre-alert for waves in Lanzarote and La Graciosa

The State Meteorological Agency forecasts that waves could reach 3.5 meters in height on the northern and western coasts

The Directorate General of Emergencies, based on the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), has declared a pre-alert for coastal phenomena in Lanzarote and La Graciosa starting at 3:00 PM this Friday, December 5th.

Specifically, this situation will affect the northern and western coast of El Hierro, La Palma, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote; and the northern coast of La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria

During this Friday, rough seas are expected, with wave heights ranging from 2 to 3.5 meters on the open coasts to the north, and on the western coasts of El Hierro, La Palma, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote. The wind will blow from the northeast at force 3 - 4 (12 - 28 km/h), and there will be choppy seas with areas of swell and northwest groundswell

This Saturday the wind will blow from the east, force 2 - 4 (6 - 28 km/h), with a choppy to slight sea and a northwest swell with waves between 3 and 3.5 meters.

On Sunday and Monday, the situation will be similar, with variable winds of force 2-3 (6-19 km/h), a rippled to slight sea, and a northwest swell with waves that could reach 2 and 3 meters in height.
