The Teguise City Council has reopened the Caleta de Famara beach this Thursday after the latest favorable water analyses carried out by Public Health, as Eugenio Robayna, Councilor for Security and Emergencies, communicated to La Voz.
The City Council prohibited swimming at this beach this Wednesday, August 12, due to fecal contamination of its waters by the bacterium Escherichia coli, which is present in the intestines of humans and animals and can cause infections in people exposed to contaminated waters.
On Wednesday, Public Health took samples again to analyze them and check if the beach could be reopened as soon as possible.
Following the results, the Teguise City Council assures that the analyses have been favorable, which is why it has proceeded to lift the swimming ban.
It so happens that this same Thursday, the Teguise City Council is presenting the Famara Total sports event, an event that will turn the tourist town into the hub of the competition.
