The Teguise City Council has closed the Caleta de Famara beach to swimming this Wednesday, the one located within the town, following the latest water analyses carried out by Public Health.
These analyses, which were conducted during this same week, have revealed that the beach waters are not suitable for swimming due to contamination, although the City Council has not specified the type of contamination.
For the moment, the causes and origin of this contamination in this coastal area are unknown.
The Councilor for Security of the Teguise City Council, Eugenio Robayna, explained to La Voz that on Wednesday Public Health has taken samples again to analyze them and check if the beach can be reopened by "this Thursday or Friday".
This closure has caused concern due to its possible impact on the Famara Total sports event. However, Robayna has assured that the event will proceed with complete normality.
