The family of Blas Cabrera y Felipe demands that a member of the Board of Directors of the Cultural Association Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Humanities of Lanzarote return personal documentation of the scientist.
According to information accessed by La Voz, this legacy includes unpublished manuscripts by Cabrera, especially on Relativity and the History of Physics, and other writings of his during his exile in Mexico. Also letters and personal correspondence from the scientist and his wife María Sánchez Real with colleagues and friends of the time.
It all began when Cabrera's family, who lived in Madrid and kept the scientist's library with many personal documents, left a large part of these to Francisco González de Posada for "his limited and temporary dissemination." It should be noted that González de Posada is the head of the defendant.
Later, Blas Cabrera's heirs decided to recover this documentation, so it had to be returned. Therefore, in January 2022, a granddaughter of the scientist requested González de Posada, through several burofaxes, the return of all of Cabrera's legacy that he had in his possession.
After several warnings, the family argues that despite receiving the requests, he never responded to them. As a result, his heirs filed a Conciliation Act Claim in October 2022 in an attempt to reach an out-of-court agreement. After it was held, González de Posada claimed that "two weeks earlier, on November 30, he had already delivered the requested documentation."
However, the family assures that the documentation delivered lacks "a significant part of it." This situation led to the heirs suing Francisco González Redonod, son and subordinate of Francisco González de Posada, in a Conciliation Act, where the requested documentation was not provided either.
Possible whereabouts of the legacy as a result of publications
The defendant, a member of the Board of Directors of the Cultural Association Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Humanities of Lanzarote, made several publications of articles that reflected information belonging to a letter from the physicist Erwin Schrödinger addressed to Blas Cabrera y Felipe.
Upon learning of these articles, the family required the defendant to deliver the documentation within 15 days. Because the defendant has not delivered this legacy, a hearing will take place next Wednesday in the Arrecife Courts.
This documentation not only has sentimental value for his heirs, but also has enormous economic value.
