electrical and a deafening wind. These two elements have caused the residents of Arrieta to spend one of the worst nights of their lives on Sunday night to Monday. An unexpected storm settled over the vertical of the town, especially over Playa de la Garita. Around two in the morning, a hurricane-force wind rose, breaking practically all the vegetation on the aforementioned beach, tearing off pergolas, destroying terraces and even lifting several mobile swimming pools. "It was a long and sleepless night with an incredible noise," explained the mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga, who has also seen his home affected by the spectacular storm.
When dawn broke, the residents were able to see the damage caused in the area with the light of day. In this way, although they are not serious, they will involve significant work in the short term. In this sense, José Torres Stinga explained that the problems in public areas such as the beach have already been fixed by the workers. As for those of houses and other private properties, their owners will have to take care of the repairs.

The weekend rains have not only affected this northern town. In fact, throughout the weekend there have been many points in Lanzarote that have been reached by rainfall. Storms that have been loaded with an important electrical device. Fortunately, they have not caused significant damage in other parts of the Island. In fact, the main rainfall occurred throughout Sunday night during the early morning. Water that has once again recalled the lack of preparation in Lanzarote for the rains by not having an appropriate sewage system. This has caused large puddles of water to be seen in some areas as well as a strong smell in some areas of the Island.
On the other hand, the intense rainfall has caused 2005 to be one of the wettest years in Lanzarote. Little accustomed to heavy rains, during these months the Island has collected a large amount of cubic meters of water. In fact, this may be one of the wettest years in recent years.
As for the forecasts, some rain may fall again on Wednesday, although from Thursday the skies will be partly cloudy or clear again. Regarding the tropical cyclone 'Vince', the National Institute of Meteorology reported that according to information from the Hurricane Center of Florida and the rest of the prediction models used by the INM, the tropical cyclone lost a lot of intensity and a good part of its structure, including the eye that had developed, currently remaining under the category of tropical storm. Its weakening continued rapidly, so it was very likely that during the early morning this disturbance would disappear as such and its remains would remain
included in the front area of a fairly active cold front that will affect today
the western half of the peninsula. In these areas moderate winds will be recorded and
occasionally strong, especially in mountainous areas and locally abundant rains
but in any case not linked to the already disappeared tropical cyclone.
