The mayor of Haría, Evelia García, has visited the works of the Center Without Age, a space that will serve as a point of "intergenerational" meeting and that is located on the Avenida Martítima de Arrieta.
This space is located on a single floor that consists of 100 square meters, with a terrace that overlooks the outside, on the beachfront in La Garita. The improvement works have mainly consisted of remodeling the installation.
For this, doors and windows have been installed, some internal spaces have been expanded, plasterboard has been installed to eliminate humidity, and now furniture and a pergola will be installed to protect users from the sun and rain, as reported by the City Council in a note.
The candidate for mayor for the Platform of the Municipality of Haría (PMH), Evelia García, has added that this center in the coastal nucleus of Arrieta will be a meeting point for "the enjoyment of young and old", in a "multidisciplinary" center for anyone who wants to contribute and share.
The first deputy mayor, José Torres Stinga, also attended the visit to the future center, who indicated that these facilities "are necessary" in a point on the coast like that, "in which all ages and interests converge." In this way, they assure that “the Center Without Age will become an intergenerational meeting point where young and old can enjoy everything they want to share.”
For her part, the mayor of Haría and candidate for mayor for the PMH, Evelia García, explains that “we had been looking for the ideal place for a long time so that older people could live together with the youngest in the same space, and that both would benefit from their experience and share everything that may be of interest to them.”
“It is a wonderful place, next to the sea, where they share space with the lifeguard and Civil Protection, who will also be present in the building, guaranteeing the safety of all users,” says García.
Currently, “society is much more individualized and sectorized by groups, which is why we see it necessary to promote the concept of intergenerational solidarity to promote mutual support between different age groups and ensure the transfer of skills and experiences from one to another,” indicates the candidate for mayor for the Platform of the Municipality of Haría.
"We care about Haría and this is the way to show it, with facts. Here we can all be who we want, at any time, and we can share music, games, advice or whatever is deemed appropriate,” she added.
“It is necessary and we are very aware of this in PMH, that relationships must be strengthened from a young age and what better space for young people than this one in which they will not only benefit from the experience of our elders, but also from the joy and affection that they spread, the advice they offer and the benefits they bring to society,” the mayor pointed out.
