The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, on her behalf and on behalf of the entire municipal corporation, has conveyed her deepest condolences to family and friends of Agustín Pallarés Padilla, who passed away this Thursday at the age of 93.
“Agustín Pallarés has been a very important personality for Lanzarote, a magnificent popularizer and self-taught researcher of culture, the natural heritage and the history of Lanzarote. He leaves us with a void as a person and as a cultural reference for the island”, says Astrid Pérez.
“He was the town crier of the San Ginés Festivities of Arrecife in 1999 and has been an staunch defender of the cultural diffusion of the island, he leaves us with a very rich legacy, the result of his research and exhaustive documentation”, adds the mayor.
In 2017, the Arrecife City Council presented, within the cultural events of the San Ginés Festivities, his latest book “Prehistory of Lanzarote”, with a prologue by the professor of Prehistory Antonio Tejera, in which Pallarés details different aspects of the aboriginal culture.
