The Councilor for Festivities of Arrecife, David Duarte, has confirmed that there will finally be a Carnival Queen Gala, which will have four candidates. The candidates are from Lanzarote, although their names and that of the designers of the fantasies they will wear will not be revealed until February 1, in a presentation that will take place at the House of Culture.
The Arrecife Carnival Queen Gala will take place on February 8 after two years without being held. "Arrecife has made a commitment and a sacrifice to recover this," said the councilor on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, where he pointed out that it was possible after "six or eight months working with the designers of Lanzarote."
"We have spoken with everyone and some have decided to present themselves and others to go to Las Palmas, but I have to thank the effort that these four people have made to collaborate," said David Duarte, who pointed out that "in principle" there were "seven, eight or nine candidates", but that the important thing is that "in the end the gala is recovered."
However, the Councilor for Festivities of Arrecife has also been critical and considers that the rest of the town councils should also collaborate. "Because the management is done by Arrecife, but then those queens go to the Carnival of Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca, etc. We should all the town councils sit down before carnivals and make an effort and that at least there are seven candidates, one from each municipality," said Duarte, who believes that it should also be done like this "with the Drag Gala."
