The Arrecife City Council has canceled "for security reasons" all outdoor activities scheduled for this weekend due to the "expected storm of rain and wind." Specifically, the traditional tourist and craft market will not be held this Saturday. Nor will the activities programmed by the Department of Commerce be carried out on the occasion of Valentine's Day.
Another of the canceled activities is the first of the trails included in the 'Family Routes Arrecife 2017' program organized by the Department of Culture, which was scheduled to take place this Sunday.
From the Arrecife City Council, they have recalled that the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has declared a pre-alert situation for rain and winds from 00:00 hours this Saturday in the entire Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. They have also pointed out that the "pre-alert for rain specifies that, in addition, the phenomenon may be significant in the north and west of the islands with probable locally heavy showers."
