Around 4,000 people gather in San Bartolomé to celebrate the arrival of 2023

The event was broadcast by RTVC throughout the Canary Islands, with an audience of over half a million viewers.

Bells from San Bartolomé

San Bartolomé brought together about 4,000 people last New Year's Eve in Plaza León y Castillo, who joined the 525,000 Canarians who enjoyed the night through the live broadcast of the RTVC chimes for all of the Canary Islands. Specifically, an average of 495,000 viewers received the new Year 2023 from their televisions through the regional channel.

The celebration began at 10:30 p.m. with a performance by Latin artist Ariel de Cuba. Likewise, the City Council of the Lanzarote municipality presented the first 2,000 attendees with a party favor, grapes and a small toast to welcome 2023.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has valued the good work and organization of the security forces, "who were in charge of ensuring that no incident occurred on such a special night." He also highlighted the presence of the GRS unit from Tenerife, Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection and Firefighters, who traveled to the municipality to reinforce security.

He also thanked RTVC for choosing the municipality as the venue for this special event and explains that “from San Bartolomé we were able to feel the illusion of thousands of Canarians who welcomed 2023 with us through television.”

Later, attendees were able to celebrate the arrival of the new year with the live performances of Grupo Naiyimbe, Rika Banda and Dj Ángel Pérez.
