Maritime Rescue has intercepted a new boat near the coast of Lanzarote, as reported by the Emergency Consortium.
The irregular vessel has been rescued 23 miles from Arrecife and would be carrying about 50 people, all of sub-Saharan origin.
With this, there are already eight precarious boats that have been rescued in the last 12 hours.
According to Maritime Rescue, early this Saturday, a boat with 59 people, including 4 women and one minor, was rescued by the Guardamar Urania off the coast of Lanzarote and transferred to Arrecife.
The same Maritime Rescue vessel rescued another 106 people in two boats, and shortly after the Salvamar Al Nair assisted 50 more people in an inflatable boat.
In addition, the Guardamar Urania located an inflatable boat 15 kilometers from Lanzarote, with 42 people also of sub-Saharan origin, including 5 women and 2 children.
Later, the Guardamar Urania rescued an inflatable boat with 54 immigrants of Maghreb origin in the vicinity of Lanzarote, including 4 women, and took them to Arrecife.
Also on the coast of Lanzarote, the Guardamar Concepción Arenal rescued three inflatable boats, one with 56 sub-Saharan immigrants, with 7 women and two minors; a second with 78 people, and another with 52, who have also been transferred to Arrecife.
In total more than 497 people, including 20 women and 5 minors. The Red Cross has assisted the occupants in Puerto Naos and have transferred 6 of them to Molina Orosa for different pathologies.
