The family, friends, and colleagues of the Lanzarote native David Bonilla Curbelo (1981-2026), who passed away this past June 6, have held an emotional tribute and have given a final farewell at the San Román Cemetery, in Arrecife, at noon this Monday.
David Bonilla passed away at the age of 44, leaving behind his two sons Álvaro and Alejandro Bonilla Roucco. In recent years, the Lanzarote native had worked in the basic life support emergency ambulance number 1315 in Arrieta. He then spent some time in non-urgent medical transport.
To honor him, his ambulance technician colleagues and other healthcare professionals from the Canary Islands Health Service gathered at the cemetery in the capital of Lanzarote. They placed several ambulances to form an aisle for the hearse at the entrance of the cemetery. Motorcyclists from the island also joined, as Bonilla was a great fan of motorcycle routes. His biker friends entered the cemetery on their motorcycles.
A large part of his family is from the north of the island, and he was well-loved among his work colleagues. In addition to his work as an ambulance technician. "He was a very loved, humble, smiling, empathetic, and wonderful guy," one of his colleagues revealed to this media outlet.
