Agustín Pallarés Padilla, named adopted son of Lanzarote in 2016, passed away this Thursday at the age of 93.

He was the grandson and son of lighthouse keepers of maritime lighthouses, a profession that he also practiced for almost four decades. Since the sixties, Pallarés has developed an intense self-taught work of research and dissemination in various areas of the culture of Lanzarote and its islets, delving into its history, toponymy, geography, linguistics and natural heritage.
His work has been published in specialized magazines and congresses, such as Almogaren, Revista del Museo Canario or Jornadas de Estudios de Lanzarote y Fuerteventura. They have also been published in hundreds of press articles.
His latest work, entitled "Prehistory of Lanzarote", was published in August 2017, and in it he delved into the keys to the aboriginal culture of the Island and the main characteristics of the aboriginal culture.
Pallarés' wake is installed in the Tanatorio Alianza Canaria of Arrecife. The cremation ceremony will take place this Saturday, February 5, in the crematorium of the funeral home itself.
