A replica of the Gold Medal of the Rancho de Pascuas y Ánimas de Tinajo is located in the showcases of the hall of the House of Culture of the municipality. On Tuesday night, the eve of Canary Islands Day, the "symbolic" award ceremony took place. An event that was attended by the mayor, Jesús Machín, and some councilors of the Consistory.
The act began with the performance of the timple students of the Music Classroom of Professor Gabriel Cuba where two students in charge of mixing their voices with the musical notes of the sonorous camels also participated. Then a group formed by players very experienced in folklore performed, accompanying with their notes the soloists, Sixto Acosta, José Manuel García and Izan Ortega. Later, Urbano Hernández took the stage representing the Rancho de Pascuas de Tinajo. Hernández explained in great detail to those present the reasons for donating the Medal to the City Council so that it could be exhibited in the House of Culture and thus share it with the neighbors.
The mayor, for his part, thanked "such a worthy detail" of the Rancho de Pascuas de Tinajo on behalf of the municipality he presides over. Afterwards, everyone headed to the hall where two members of the Rancho de Pascuas removed the cloth that covered the showcase in which, from now on, you can see the replica of the Medal along with a parchment that collects the history of the Ranchos de Ánimas y Pascuas existing in the Canary Islands, as well as two fundamental instruments in a Rancho such as "The Sword and The Tambourine".
An event attended by some representatives of other Ranchos de Pascuas, neighbors, friends and lovers of traditions who ended up tasting some delicious homemade trout and a glass of Malvasia wine.
The Gold Medal
In 2006, the Government of the Canary Islands awarded the Gold Medal to the Ranchos de Ánimas y Pascuas for the "primary role" they have played in the History of the Canary Islands. This medal is on public display in the Casa-Museo del Timple in Teguise. Ten years later, in an act held in the church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in which the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, was present, each of the Ranchos was given an accrediting diploma as well as a replica of the long-awaited Medal that was awarded to them in their day.
