A mural in Puerto Naos pays tribute to women and their work in the canneries

A mural in Puerto Naos “pays tribute to women and their work in canneries”, with a design by the artist Santiago Alemán, who, together with the collective veintinueve trece, supervises the work. The copy of Alemán's design is executed by the artist Juan Muñoz, while the young students from the Pancho Lasso School of Arts and Artistic Crafts are in charge of painting it.

The mural is located on one of the walls of the old Frigorsa warehouse in Puerto Naos, and according to the Arrecife City Council, the entire execution process “will be documented in video and photography, and a final video will be created, which can be accessed through the veintinueve trece website and through a QR code that will be created on the mural”.

The mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez, and the councilor for Youth, Elisabeth Merino, visited the painting work this Monday, which is still “in its initial phase”. The mayor highlighted “the importance of Santiago Alemán's work” and “the success of leaving the legacy of his work captured so that everyone can contemplate it”.

The councilor for Youth, Elisabeth Merino, for her part, highlighted the City Council's interest “in initiatives like this in which art with capital letters occupies public spaces”, and above all, “the collaborative project aspect that this mural has”
