The Town Hall of Tías joins the celebration this Thursday of the 'World Day of the Fight against Breast Cancer' as a reminder of the commitment of the entire society in the battle against this disease. A large pink canvas is displayed on the facade of the Town Hall to make this day visible.

The mayor of Tías and the Councilor of Health, José Juan Cruz and Laura Callero, want to send a message of "encouragement" to all the people who are fighting against the disease, their families, friends, caregivers and health personnel, while they "show solidarity" with this cause.

This day is made visible once again and the population is made aware of the need for prevention through breast examination and access to controls and diagnoses through medical tests such as breast ultrasounds.

According to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), among the symptoms of breast cancer are the change in size of the breasts, irregularities in the contour, less mobility of the breasts when raising the arms, alteration in the skin of the breast, changes in the nipple, nodules in the armpit, fatigue or bone pain.

It was the World Health Organization (WHO) that established October 19 as the date to celebrate this day, which has been represented with pink ribbons since 1991, when the 'Susan G. Komen Foundation' gave them to the participants of a race in New York.
