The Department of Culture of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and La Graciosa continues with the screenings of the Summer Traveling Cinema, which on August 13 and 14, at 9:00 PM, arrives at the Hermitage of San Antonio, in Tías. The cycle will offer two new open-air screenings with free admission.
The Minister of Culture of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jesús Machín Tavío, highlights that "Summer Traveling Cinema continues to bring great film titles to all the municipalities on the island, also fostering encounters between the public and the dialogue that arises after each screening." "This initiative demonstrates that culture can be enjoyed in any space and continue to generate reflection and coexistence among citizens," he added.
In this new event, the public will be able to enjoy *Witness*, directed by Peter Weir, and *Flowers from Another World*, by Icíar Bollaín, two films that, from very different perspectives, invite reflection on coexistence, justice, integration, and personal decisions in the face of the circumstances that mark the lives of their protagonists.
The first screening will take place on Thursday, August 13, with the projection of *Witness* (1985), directed by Peter Weir. The film tells the story of Samuel, a boy from an Amish community who accidentally witnesses a murder during a trip to Philadelphia. Becoming the sole witness to the crime, his life and that of his mother will depend on the protection of a police officer who will have to confront those who try to silence him.
On Friday, August 14, it will be the turn of *Flores de otro mundo* (1999), by Icíar Bollaín, a story that brings together three immigrant women and several men from a small town marked by depopulation and loneliness. The encounter between them will give rise to a story about coexistence, cultural differences, new beginnings, and the search for a place to build a future.
Although they start from very different realities, both films focus on people forced to face situations that will transform their lives. The first reflects on protection, truth, and the clash between two ways of understanding the world; the second addresses immigration, integration, and human relationships from a close and deeply human perspective.
The two screenings will begin at 9:00 PM and will have free admission until full capacity is reached.
Summer Traveling Cinema 2026 is promoted by the Area of Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, with the collaboration of the city councils of Arrecife, Haría, San Bartolomé, Teguise, Tías, Tinajo and Yaiza.
