The taxi-bus service launched by the Cabildo of Lanzarote is now operational. The initiative has the collaboration of the City Council of Haría and the island's transport sector and "benefits the residents of the northern area of the island" and who, for years, "have had difficulties accessing the public transport service", the Island Council has stressed. In this way, the residents of the towns of Charco del Palo, Tabayesco, Ye and Guinate can access the rest of the regular bus lines that pass through the municipality thanks to the taxi-bus service.
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, assures that "this important agreement that we have reached with the company that has the concession for regular passenger transport and the taxi sector responds to the firm commitment of the presidency of the Cabildo so that mobility and connectivity in the north of the island is real and effective, regardless of where you live in Lanzarote."
Betancort congratulates the Minister of Transport and the Mayor of Haría for this important achievement, which "will undoubtedly improve the quality of life of the residents." He also points out that "this service is open to all the municipalities of the island that make municipal taxi licenses available, as the City Council of Haría has done."
In this same sense, the Minister of Transport, Domingo Cejas, points out that "this pilot project is part of the actions contemplated in the Island Mobility Plan and that aims to improve the public transport service in all the municipalities, thus guaranteeing the mobility of users at different times with a pre-established service frequency."
For his part, the mayor Alfredo Villalba affirms that "the new taxi-bus service will mean a great and notorious improvement in mobility in the municipality." "In addition, with this initiative we provide a solution to the inconveniences that affect island public transport and that does not satisfy the residents of the north," confirms the mayor.
In addition, the Councilor for Transport and Mobility of Haría, Marcos Lemes, is "very satisfied" with the implementation of the service, "which responds to a historical demand of the residents of the population centers of the municipality and to which a solution is finally being found."
