The ONCE has inaugurated its new headquarters in Arrecife (Lanzarote), a modern, accessible, and sustainable center that reinforces the specialized social care that the Organization provides to blind people or those with severe visual impairment on the easternmost islands of the Canary Islands.
From this agency, specialized social services are coordinated for 209 blind people affiliated with the Organization, in addition to being a labor reference for 93 workers, among them 89 vendors of the ONCE's social, safe, and responsible lotteriesThe new space has been designed to respond to the current needs of care, rehabilitation, and support, and has multipurpose offices, meeting rooms, an auditorium, and administrative areas, allowing for the development of both individual care and group and training activitiesLocated in a central area of Arrecife, at Luis Fajardo Ferrer street, number 1, the headquarters facilitates access for users and professionals, consolidating the ONCE's role as a social and community benchmark in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and La Graciosa
The inauguration was attended by the Director General of ONCE, Ángel Sánchez, the General Counselor of the Organization, Bárbara Palau, the President of the Territorial Council of ONCE in the Canary Islands, Abel Herrera, and all the members of this body, which previously held its plenary session at the new headquarters. Also participating were the ONCE delegate in the Canary Islands, José Antonio López, the Director of the ONCE Agency in Arrecife, Vanessa Mendoza, along with other institutional leaders of the OrganizationAmong the invited authorities were the Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Marciano Acuña, and the 2nd Deputy Mayor of the Arrecife City Council, Roberto Vicente Herbón, accompanied by two councilors, in an event that symbolizes the ONCE's commitment to proximity, inclusion, and sustainabilityThe new headquarters represents an ONCE that is closer and more prepared, which continues to work every day to guarantee equal opportunities and the full social inclusion of its affiliated community
