National Police agents assigned to the Local Private Security Unit of the Arrecife Police Station gave a training session aimed at healthcare professionals from the Canary Islands Health Service Primary Care Center in Lanzarote on October 13, with the aim of preventing assaults and improving action and coordination mechanisms in the face of possible episodes of violence.
During the session, which lasted approximately two hours, different preventive measures and action guidelines were addressed against physical assaults, threats, and other violent behaviors that may occur during the exercise of healthcare activities.
Through the figure of the Health Police Liaison, the National Police seek to strengthen collaboration and establish direct communication channels with health professionals, fostering a coordinated and effective response to situations that may compromise their safety.
The session was attended by heads of Primary Care in Lanzarote and the training delegate, who were able to exchange experiences, analyze real situations, and resolve doubts related to the prevention and management of possible assaults.
Likewise, the agents placed special emphasis on the importance of reporting any assault, threat, or criminal behavior, recalling that reporting is a fundamental tool for activating protection mechanisms and allowing for appropriate police action.
In this regard, the Local Police Station of Arrecife conveyed to the health managers their willingness to facilitate, as far as possible, preferential attention to professionals in this group when they need to file a report, with the aim of reducing waiting times and minimizing interference in their healthcare activities.
Continuity of training sessions
The initiative allowed for closer collaboration between the National Police and healthcare professionals in Lanzarote, highlighting the importance of working together to ensure a safer healthcare environment.
Given the positive reception and the interest shown by the attendees, it was agreed to continue these training sessions, progressively extending them to other healthcare areas and services on the island, based on the needs expressed by their professionals.
