The Guardia Civil arrested four men last Saturday for the alleged commission of a smuggling offense after the inflatable boat they were traveling in ran aground on the coast of Mala.
As reported by sources from the armed institute to La Voz, the four occupants were arrested for a smuggling offense, for traveling in a vessel that did not comply with Spanish regulations, as the vessel exceeded 150 kilowatts of power for approximately eight meters of length.
The vessel had previously been sighted entering through La Garita beach, in Arrieta, in broad daylight. Several witnesses recounted that the occupants of the inflatable boat had thrown several objects into the sea that they identified as drug bales.
At the moment, the Guardia Civil has not located any narcotic substance in the area, but it is carrying out searches on the coast of Lanzarote. This situation occurs in weeks when the sea is beating strongly on the coast, which complicates the agents' work.
For the moment, while awaiting the possible discovery of this drug, the four detainees have been brought before the judicial authorities for an alleged smuggling offense.
