The connection between the horse and the rider, the new photography of Gustavo Medina in Lanzarote

To take this type of photograph, patience and weather conditions must go hand in hand, but in this case, with an animal being one of the protagonists, it makes it even more complicated.

Lanzarote went to bed this Wednesday with a bright full moon that photographer Gustavo Medina took advantage of to photograph in a very special way in Yaiza. The photographer was this Thursday on the program Más de uno Lanzarote to explain the details about the image that he has shared on his Instagram profile where he was able to immortalize a rider, who in this case is his brother Iván, and his mare called Malagueña, in total complicity with the Moon as a witness.

"It is something that I had in mind to do with my brother to be able to show the complicity between the rider and the horse," says Medina. In this sense, the photographer says that he is "very satisfied with the result and it has been worth it."

To take this type of photograph, patience and weather conditions must go hand in hand, but in this case, with an animal being one of the protagonists, it makes it even more complicated. "The planning can be months of waiting, but the moment to take the photograph is two minutes," he explains.

In addition, "in this type of images the photograph is taken at a great distance to then bring the image closer and it becomes even more difficult to depend on the animal, that is why the planning is so important," he continues.

"It is a kind of tribute and because in the world of photography you have to improve yourself, a photo has to transmit and speak, that tells a story and that is my job," Medina concludes.
