This Thursday morning, the Business and SME Association of Tías (AEP Tías) was officially presented at an event held in the Plaza Ermita de San Antonio. This new group was created to boost local commerce and strengthen the business fabric of the municipality, and it has a nominated subsidy from the Tías Town Council amounting to 20,000 euros.
The event included speeches from the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, the Minister of Commerce of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Armando Santana, and the president of AEP Tías, Lidia Morales, who emphasized the shared effort and their confidence in the potential of the Open Commercial Zone of Tías and its towns.
Also in attendance were representatives from Caja 7, a partner of the association, and from the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, as well as the Councillor for Commerce of the Tías City Council, Miriam Hernández, and members of the municipality's government team.
In this first phase, more than twenty businesses and small companies have joined the project, showing their commitment to working together to promote the economic and social development of the municipality.
José Juan Cruz shared the governing group's desire to "walk together so that Tías is consolidated as an island benchmark for shopping and services, offering a varied and quality offer for both residents and visitors." The mayor congratulated the businessmen and wished them "success in this endeavor."
Lidia Morales, for her part, thanked the City Council for its support "and all the people who have made the project possible," and emphasized that the new association "is born to promote cooperation, innovation, and competitiveness, creating an environment that favors the growth of companies and the self-employed."
For Armando Santana, this association is presented as "a fundamental tool with the capacity to execute actions that make life more pleasant for people, so it is a very important challenge and I value it as something very positive."
