The Yaiza City Council ordered this Tuesday the temporary closure of Playa Pequeña in Playa Blanca after Public Health detected contamination in a water sample with elevated microbiological values of intestinal enterococci, which pose a risk to people's health.
As a preventive measure, bathing is prohibited at least until the results of the new laboratory analyses are known, expected within an approximate period of 48 hours.
From the southern City Council, residents and tourists are asked to respect the prohibition while municipal technicians work to clarify the causes of this incident. Simultaneously, Public Health continues with the taking of samples and the analysis of the water.
The City Council reminds that users can opt for other bathing areas of the municipality, such as the beaches located in the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches, as well as Playa Dorada or Playa Flamingo, which remain open and suitable for bathing.
