This Thursday, a new association composed of 75 women, the 'Association of Women for and for the Altavista neighborhood' (AMBA), was presented to the media.

The organizational chart is as follows: President Saro González Perdomo, Vice President María del Pino Hernández Montelongo, Secretary Teresa Perdomo García, Treasurer Eva Peña Perdomo, and Board Members Rosa Fernández Fontes, Dulce Delgado Gopar, Rosario Hernández Medina, Mercedes Betancor Méndez, and Teresa González Morales.

The association was created primarily to rescue the Obra de la Cruz Blanca de Altavista, which is owned by the Diocese of the Canary Islands. This work "has been abandoned for many years in the middle of the Park, the Church, and the Altavista Senior Citizens Association, with the risk that this entails, as park users enter the work."

One of the objectives is to make the public administrations aware of the "deficiency" of the neighborhood and to form a negotiating table to "solve" the problems, the association emphasizes.

"To revitalize the neighborhood so that it comes to life and offer it to young people, to help the most disadvantaged families and those in extreme precariousness to bring it to the attention of the competent bodies, as well as to older people who feel lonely, to give them emotional support and help them feel more useful," is another of the objectives of these women.
