"If there is no water for the people, neither for the tourists", announces the Tabaiba Collective, which together with some individuals has limited access to the showers in Playa Honda or Costa Teguise, among others

The lack of water supply in Lanzarote is a daily complication on the island that the locals have to live with. The supply cuts registered by Canal Gestión occur in many of the municipalities and towns throughout the volcanic island.

To prevent more water from being wasted on the island and to be able to take advantage of the little water that reaches, for example, the rural areas of Lanzarote, a series of actions have been carried out by the Tabaiba Collective together with individuals.

The collective and other citizens have sealed off the showers on Lanzarote beaches with cable ties. Specifically, they have limited access to the showers on beaches such as Playa Honda, Costa Teguise, among others.

"If there is no water for the people, neither for the tourists", the Tabaiba Collective has announced on its social networks. Its members have made it clear that the people of Lanzarote are "tired" of the lack of water throughout the island and the repeated cuts they suffer every day.

"If there is no water for the people, neither for the tourists", they emphasize

Thus, they have collected images of several tourists taking a shower on various beaches of the island and denounced the "waste of water", while citizens "do not have it" for their daily use, they have specified. In addition, in the video broadcast on social networks, users have denounced that "they are letting the countryside dry out while hotels and water parks are in full waste", one of them complained.

Five towns without water this Monday

Canal Gestión has published the water cuts for this Monday, May 13. The week begins with five towns in Lanzarote affected by the interruption of the supply, as La Voz has just published. The company has reported that La Cancela street in Máguez (Haría) will not have a water supply throughout the day, nor will Elvira Sánchez street in the town of Haría.

In addition, Los Valles, in Teguise, also does not have a supply. It should be remembered that throughout the past week this town suffered cuts in the supply. In addition, the town of La Florida in San Bartolomé and Cristóbal Colón street with César Manrique in the same municipality will also not have water.

The residents of Los Valles in Teguise have denounced this Monday the "incessant" water cuts by Canal Gestión, the company in charge of managing the supply on the island, "while the hotels fill the pools". In this sense, citizens of the town have stated that "they have been without water for more than a week" in their homes.
