Self-employed workers return to the streets this Monday, March 2nd

The Platform for the Dignity of the Self-Employed denounces the lack of structural changes and calls for simultaneous gatherings, also in Arrecife and La Graciosa, under the slogan: "We are not asking for privileges, we are asking for justice."

The Platform for the Dignity of the Self-Employed 30N has called for a new mobilization for Monday, March 2, in what is already shaping up to be a historic day of claims throughout Spain.

After the success of last November 30, when more than 80,000 self-employed workers took to the streets in 21 cities, the movement now takes a further step and expands the call to almost 40 municipalities, consolidating itself as one of the main voices in defense of the collective.

The chosen date is not accidental. March 2nd symbolizes the so-called “30F”, a non-existent day on the calendar but which, according to the organization, reflects a very present reality for the more than 3.4 million self-employed workers in the country.

From the Platform they assure that, despite the forcefulness of the previous mobilization, no real structural changes have occurred. They denounce that the collective continues to endure increasing fiscal pressure, high contributions regardless of real income, lack of social protection comparable to other workers, suffocating bureaucracy, and the progressive deterioration of small businesses and the local economic fabric.

“What started in 21 cities has become a national movement. We are not asking for privileges: we demand fair conditions to work, start businesses, and sustain the country's real economy,” says a spokesperson for the organization.

The organization emphasizes that it is an independent movement, without partisan affiliation, protected by the constitutional right to assembly and demonstration. The call will be peaceful, simultaneous throughout the country, and open to self-employed individuals, supporters, families, and citizens who wish to join.

“We are not asking for privileges, we are asking for justice. We are the ones who open the shop every day, we sustain local commerce and a good part of the real economy. Without the self-employed, there is no future,” they conclude from the Platform.
