The municipality of San Bartolomé was the scene on Sunday night of the awards ceremony of the Alexis Tejera Awards, which in its second edition have distinguished the work carried out by the Red Cross in the category of Social Integration and the Diversos Project of the Celia Medina School in the category of Social Innovation. Mr. Guillermo León Russo has been recognized as a historical Socialist.

The meeting included speeches by the President of the PSOE in Lanzarote, Marcial Martín, the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, the island's general secretary, María Dolores Corujo, the secretary of the Local Group, Raúl de León, and Alexis Tejera's wife, Marta Sarmiento, supported by representatives of the Party in various local institutions, militants, supporters, residents of the municipality, family and friends.

In his speech, Raúl de León, who acted as master of ceremonies, thanked the "involvement of each of the men and women who have made it possible for these awards to be a reality", especially to "the family members of Alexis Tejera for their willingness and collaboration in everything". He also thanked the "presence at the event of so many people showing their affection for the honoree".

Next, the President of the PSOE in Lanzarote, Marcial Martín, took the floor, who in an "emotional speech" recalled "how much Alexis Tejera did for San Bartolomé and for the PSOE".

In addition, Isidro Pérez in his words, highlighted "how much Alexis has meant in all areas for the municipality of San Bartolomé" and stressed the "enormous achievements that Alexis achieved based on his responsibility as a public manager". At that moment, the mayor himself presented the Distinction to Mr. Guillermo León Russo, which recognizes him as the active member with the most years of affiliation.

Immediately afterwards, the general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, took the floor, who in an "emotional speech" recalled "how much Alexis Tejera did for San Bartolomé and for the PSOE".

At this moment of the ceremony, both Fernando Vadillo, member of the Local Executive, and Marlene Romero, Secretary of Organization of the San Bartolomé Group, emphasized that "both the Red Cross and the Diversos Project of the Celia Medina School, symbolize those values ​​for which the young mayor fought so much, always in favor of the well-being of the people".

Also emotional were the words of Marta, Alexis's wife, who stated that "Alexis would have been totally in agreement with the winners since they represent everything he defended".
